I was pleased to join Stephan Tarnutzer, President of AVL North America, for an episode of their Reimagine Mobility Podcast Series. AVL is a leading mobility technology company for development, simulation and testing in the automotive industry, with offices globally. The discussion addressed the myriad factors in bringing autonomy to our roads, roaming across passenger cars, robotaxi’s, and driverless trucks. Somehow, Stephan got me talking about the early days, “OG style.”

During Manifest 2024 in Las Vegas, I was pleased to moderate a fascinating conversation about the regulatory and collaboration scene regarding EV and AV trucks. Our panelists were Sean Waters of Daimler Truck North America, Ariel Wolf of Venable LLP / AVIA, Matt McLelland of Covenant, and Matt Schrap of Harbor Trucking Association. Its challenging enough to engineer practical and safe EV and AV systems, but when you get into the regs, OY! Despite the daunting challenges, key paths forward were illuminated. And the guys were pretty entertaining.
